PIA Partners with Riyadh Air to Strengthen Global Cargo Network and Boost Revenue

A New Era for Pakistan’s Aviation Cargo Sector

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has announced a major strategic partnership with Riyadh Air, Saudi Arabia’s newly launched national carrier, aimed at expanding its global cargo operations and improving revenue streams. The collaboration, which officially comes into effect on October 29, marks a significant milestone in PIA’s ongoing efforts to modernize and globalize its freight services.

Connecting Pakistan, London, and Riyadh for Global Cargo Distribution

Under the new cargo agreement, shipments originating from Pakistan and London will be transported to Riyadh, from where they will be distributed worldwide through the combined logistics networks of PIA and Riyadh Air. This partnership will enable faster, more efficient global cargo movement, positioning both airlines as key players in the international air freight market.

A PIA spokesperson stated that the agreement is designed to strengthen the airline’s cargo footprint and meet the rapidly growing global demand for reliable and cost-effective air freight services.

Expanding Horizons Through Strategic Collaboration

PIA’s partnership with Riyadh Air is part of a broader strategy to diversify revenue streams and build long-term sustainability within the aviation sector. The collaboration will not only boost cargo capacity but also open new trade corridors for Pakistan, improving export logistics for key industries such as textiles, agriculture, and pharmaceuticals.

The spokesperson also highlighted that PIA already maintains a successful cargo partnership with British Airways, through which nearly 1,000 tonnes of cargo are transported annually to the United Kingdom. The new alliance with Riyadh Air, he added, represents another major step toward strengthening Pakistan’s position in global aviation logistics.

A Step Toward Financial Revitalization

The partnership arrives at a crucial time for PIA, which has been actively pursuing operational reforms and international collaborations to boost financial stability. By aligning with Riyadh Air—a carrier backed by Saudi Arabia’s ambitious aviation expansion plans—PIA aims to tap into new markets, improve cargo turnover, and drive profitability.
