Aviation Breakthrough for Pakistan
In a major development for Pakistan’s aviation industry, Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif announced that the country is preparing to resume direct flights to the United States after successfully securing clearance to operate flights to the United Kingdom. The approval marks a significant milestone, restoring Pakistan’s position in international aviation networks after years of restrictions.
UK Flight Operations to Begin This Month
Speaking to reporters, Minister Asif confirmed that both Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and private carriers have received the green light to operate routes to the UK. Calling it a “major breakthrough,” he revealed that the first flight from Islamabad to Manchester is scheduled for October 25.
He added that several private airlines have also expressed interest in launching new services to British cities, a move expected to boost competition and offer better options for travelers.
Progress Toward US Route Restoration
Khawaja Asif further stated that talks with US aviation authorities are progressing positively, raising hopes for the resumption of direct flights to America in the near future. “Hopefully, permission will be granted soon,” he said, emphasizing that Pakistan has made significant progress in meeting international aviation and safety standards.
Improved Safety and Regulatory Compliance
The minister assured that Pakistan has addressed major regulatory issues that previously hindered its global flight operations. The government has strengthened aviation safety, pilot licensing, and technical compliance measures to meet global requirements.
Reviving Pakistan’s Global Air Connectivity
The resumption of flights to both the UK and the US is expected to revitalize Pakistan’s aviation sector, enhance trade and tourism, and strengthen ties with overseas communities. With these renewed routes, Pakistan aims to restore international confidence in its aviation system and rebuild its global presence.
