The Pakistan Mas-Wrestling Federation (PMWF) has officially approved its comprehensive strategic plan for 2026-27, aiming to strengthen the sport from grassroots participation to international excellence. The roadmap was finalized during a General Council meeting chaired by PMWF President Nawab Furqan Khan, with all provincial secretaries in attendance.
Focus on Grassroots Sports Development
A central pillar of the new strategy is expanding mas-wrestling at the school and college levels. Following its recent inclusion in official Inter-School and Inter-College Games, the federation plans to identify young talent early and build a strong competitive structure nationwide.
Officials emphasized that introducing mas-wrestling into educational institutions will create new opportunities for youth engagement, athletic development, and national representation in the future.
Sindh Association Gains Olympic Affiliation
One of the major milestones highlighted during the meeting was the formal affiliation of the Sindh Mas-Wrestling Association with the Sindh Olympic Association. This recognition strengthens the sport’s institutional standing and ensures better governance, funding prospects, and competitive exposure within the province.
The development is expected to pave the way for similar affiliations across other provinces, enhancing mas-wrestling’s credibility in Pakistan’s sports structure.
Pakistan to Host Asian Mas-Wrestling Championship 2026
A key highlight of the 2026-27 roadmap is Pakistan’s plan to host the Asian Mas-Wrestling Championship from May 10 to 15, 2026. Hosting this major continental event will not only boost Pakistan’s international sporting profile but also provide local athletes with valuable exposure against top Asian competitors.
The federation remains committed to promoting mas-wrestling as an emerging sport in Pakistan through structured planning, international collaboration, and youth-focused initiatives. With a clear vision in place, PMWF aims to position Pakistan as a competitive force in Asian mas-wrestling in the coming years.
