Islamabad Hosts First-Ever ATP Challenger Tournament
One of the biggest highlights of the year was Pakistan hosting its first ATP Challenger tournament in Islamabad. This milestone event marked a major step forward for professional tennis in the country and showcased improved sports infrastructure and organizational capacity.
The successful hosting of an ATP-sanctioned event reflects PTF’s long-term efforts to revive international tennis competitions in Pakistan and re-establish the nation as a credible destination for global sporting events.
PTF President Praises Rapid Growth
PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi described 2025 as a proud chapter for Pakistani tennis. He revealed that Pakistan has now been recognized as Asia’s fastest-growing tennis federation, a testament to consistent investment and talent development at all levels.
He emphasized that both junior and senior players delivered performances that prove Pakistan’s strong potential on the international tennis stage.
Junior Tennis Brings International Gold
Pakistan’s junior players were among the biggest success stories of the year. The national Under-16 team won gold at the Davis Cup Juniors event in Malaysia, while the Under-12 squad claimed top honors at the ATF South Asian Championship in Sri Lanka.
Additionally, Pakistani juniors secured an impressive 20 ITF junior titles in 2025. Rising star Mikaeel Ali Baig emerged as one of the standout performers, earning international recognition for his consistent results.
Senior, Masters, and Wheelchair Teams Excel
Pakistan also made a powerful debut at the ITF Masters 45+ World Championship in Turkey, winning two gold medals and one bronze on its first appearance. Meanwhile, the national wheelchair tennis team added to the medal count by clinching bronze at the ITF World Team Cup qualifiers held in Colombo.
