In a major setback for Pakistan’s kabaddi scene, four national-level kabaddi players have been banned for four years after refusing to undergo doping tests during the National Kabaddi Championship in Lahore.
Refusal to Test Treated as Doping Offense
According to official sources, the players declined to provide samples for doping control, a move that is considered a serious anti-doping violation under international and national sports regulations. Refusal to submit a sample is treated the same as a positive test result.
Following the incident, the Anti-Doping Organization of Pakistan (ADOP) issued an official notification confirming the punishment in line with established anti-doping rules.
Names of Banned Kabaddi Players Revealed
The banned athletes have been identified as:
- Ubaidullah Rajput
- Malik Bin Yameen
- Rana Haider
- Kashif Sandhu
According to the notification, the four-year suspension will take effect from October 21, 2025, barring the players from participating in all professional and national-level kabaddi events during this period.
Pakistan Kabaddi Federation Calls Disciplinary Meeting
In response to the controversy, the Pakistan Kabaddi Federation (PKF) has scheduled a meeting of its disciplinary committee on January 12 in Lahore. The committee will be chaired by Rana Amjad Iqbal, with members Akhtar Abbas, Colonel Nabil, Sohail Ahmed, and Rana Sarwar.
The banned players have been formally summoned to appear before the committee to present their explanation regarding the refusal to undergo testing.
Final Warning Issued to Players
Officials have clarified that if the players fail to appear before the disciplinary committee, the four-year ban will be enforced without any further hearings or proceedings.
